Transform Hate

"HOW CAN WE HEAL FROM HATE?"

THIS EXHIBIT IS IN CONJUCTION WITH SPEAKING VOLUMES: TRANSFORMING HATE

Beginning the First Friday in January 2015, Living Arts will host two exhibits that address the transformation of hate called “Speaking Volumes/Transforming Hate”. It is our intention to create city, county and even state-wide participation through conversations and community artworks as a vehicle to address this need and give our citizens a way to express themselves about this subject.

So, with this exhibit as the central core of the project, we decided to extend the power of the artwork to the people and so, developed this website where we have lesson plans for teachers who have their students building  books to be in an exhibit in the West End Gallery here at Living ArtSpace.

Our Partners have been putting together Satellite Exhibitions that will show their own community’s artworks about Transforming Hate.  Now we have received funding which will allow us to rent a bus to take people around on the weekends in Jan & Feb. to several of these “Satellite Exhibits”.

BUT WE WANT YOU TO GET INVOLVED TOO!

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE – ORGANIZE A WORKSHOP TO MAKE SOMETHING THAT SAYS “THIS IS WHAT I THINK ABOUT INTOLERANCE”!

Bus Gallery Hop

SCHEDULE

Each weekend in January and February, we will meet at Living ArtSpace.  After seeing the exhibit “Speaking Volumes/Transforming Hate” at Living Arts, the group is instructed to get on the bus and sit next to someone you don’t know and discuss what it is that they just saw and anything about “Transforming Hate”.  After each stop the same method is followed and we travel to the next Satellite Exhibit.  Not all Satellite exhibits will be able to be visited.

-        On Satudays we will Board at 10am and travel to 2 stops before a lunch break.  That bus will continue to 3-4 more stops before returning to Living ArtSpace at 5pm.  (lunch is on your own, but we will stop at a place that has vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian foods TBA)

-        On Sundays we will Board at 1pm and travel to 3 stops before returning to Living ArtSpace at 5pm.  The schedule is still in the process of being developed since we are still trying to identify all of the Partners.
