YOU ARE INVITED…TO THE ARTCORE STUDIOS SPRING 2017  PRESENTATION

    AT 630PM AT LIVING ARTS.

THIS WILL LAST LESS THAN 15 MINUTES.

WE WILL BE EXPLORING AND SHARING OUR PERSONAL DISCOVERS OF FRONTING AND MASKING FOR EMOTIONAL SURVIVAL. EACH PARTICIPANT WILL POSE AS AN ICON OF DOUBLE STANDARDS;  GLAMOUR AND SUCCESS VS REALITY AND SORROW. OUR VEHICLE FOR OUR CHARACTERS IS “CARNIVAL”.

THE CHOICES FOR THIS ARTCORE WERE TOTALLY FROM THE PARTICIPANTS.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR DEDICATION TO THE ARTS AND THE CREATIVE EXPERIENCES OF YOUR CHILDREN.

    The Carnival

The primary theme is beauty and exaggerated excitement.

The underlying overall concept will be the hidden behind the masks and parties, sadness and sorrow.

At the carnival all is excitement and beauty. The lights are aglitter and joyously shining, but under the surface it is quite dim

All eyes are downcast and smiles are up side down..and my, the outlooks quite grim.

Masks of joy cover sadness, aiming to delight and excite, insuring that they are not miserable at all.

    ABOUT LESLIE C. BROWN:

I have studied music in some form or another for my entire life. I have been a student of the drum for about 15 years...starting with drumming at a Rainbow gathering in Vermont and moving into more focused pursuits with amazing teachers such as: Mohammed Camera, Babatunde Olatunji, Gordy Ryan, Batantou Ferdinand, Michael Back and Jeff Porter, to name a few! I feel honored to be taking on the Wednesday night drumming class. This class has been an integral part of Living Arts for many years. I look forward to infusing West African, Afro-Cuban, Con-golese rhythms, songs and body percussion along with whatever else we want to bring into this class! Please come and create beautiful music and plan on having a good time!
    Thank you,
    Leslie C. Brown
